Profile

Crystal Lacasse is an experienced Early Childhood Educator with over 10 years in the field. As the Headmistress of Tadika Methodist Sri Aman, she has been a key advocate for hands-on STREAM-based learning in early education. Under her leadership, the kindergarten successfully launched a weekly STEM class for children aged 5 to 9, aimed at building scientific thinking, fostering curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and sparking early interest in STREAM.

In addition to STEM classes, Crystal also conducts and oversees visual arts, dance, music, and drumming lessons as part of a series of weekday creative interest classes. These programs apply imaginative and engaging approaches to teaching STREAM concepts.

Crystal was also a team member representing Methodist Pilley Institute, Sibu, in pitching the “NEW ERA FUN” Social Enterprise Project at the University-Community Social Enterprise (UCSE) and University Social Enterprise Competition (USEC), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in March 2024. Through this initiative and a successfully secured government grant, the project empowers beneficiaries from Julau, Long Bangan, and Pak Adan to supply recycled and natural materials for producing STREAM kits.

Understanding the importance of STREAM in preparing children for the future, Crystal actively promotes STREAM education among early childhood educators and parents. As a mother of a 10-year-old daughter, she believes STREAM is key to nurturing 21st-century skills in the next generation. She looks forward to sharing her insights on fostering innovation through STREAM at this expo.
